Originally established over 40 years ago in Leicester UK, the family began selling furnishing fabrics and net curtains to the local community. Progressing to made-to-measure manufacture gave the company a bespoke service offer that grew into successfully setting up the first factory.
And now, our second generation business is expert in the window decoration industry; innovating, manufacturing and distributing a wide portfolio of window solutions.
The brand illumin8 was established in the UK in 2000 and a move of our manufacturing facility to Sharjah, UAE came in December 2004 when the owners moved with their families. Already having access to a highly skilled workforce, expert in tailoring and stitching, the aim was to train them further to make fabulous products at great prices.
Selling both to the home market in UAE and also shipping back to trade customers in the UK ensured the business enjoyed steady growth, but that was unexpectedly interrupted by a devastating factory fire in 2017.
With hard work and resolve, the management team refused to be disheartened and within 2 years, a new factory was established and sales quickly resumed and began to exceed all previous expectations, having gained new customers and expanded into new territories.
Now, the company has tripled its manufacturing facility, opened the marketing management studio in the UK and continues to attract new customers worldwide.
Operating from our bespoke manufacturing facility in the SAIF zone, Sharjah, UAE and employing 150 talented staff recruited from India, Nepal & Bangladesh, the illumin8 factory runs production on a year-round basis, offering customers consistent service levels throughout.
The manufacturing team are proficient in managing a portfolio of differing product specification options, which benefits all market levels and price points.
Within the factory, in-house digital printing facilities enable bespoke fabric production and the ability to offer exclusive designs on different functional base-cloths for Roller blinds and also soft fabrics for Roman blinds & Curtains. This skill also allows for collaborations with unique Designer brands to be produced under license.
At the same location, we have our internal sales team, customer service, purchasing, QC and IT as well as a large warehousing facility
Made-to-measure blinds and curtains are manufactured to order and aim to be with customers within 7-10 working days.
In 2019, illumin8 earned factory accreditation from NEXT UK plc and has since independently received ISO:9001 certification.
Our UK team
Our UK based Marketing Studio is in Nottingham, where a small team of industry experts with knowledge of the market, the product and consumers will create bespoke fabric collections and manage new projects from conception to launch, covering sample presentation, pricing, image production, merchandising and product life cycle management.
Acting as specialist advisors and account managers for large customers, this team will undertake all elements of marketing, product, social and brand as required, to ensure the end goal of growing sales for both parties is achieved.
With 10 dedicated textile designers also based in the UK at the studio in Ashley Wilde Group, who are continually creating exclusive designs, illumin8 can keep at the forefront of the latest trends, styles and colours.
